Enjoy a quiet time in Kyoto at the end of the year
Hi, I'm Obuchi from Risshisha.
Kyoto slowly starts getting ready for
the new year as it comes to a close.
The location and surroundings of our accommodation
are also quite lighter than normal, with a calm atmosphere.
We'll introduce Mibudera Temple and Yabusoba today,
two restaurants that are close to the Gojo area on foot.

【Mibu-dera Temple】is a Shinsengumi Temple
Mibu-dera Temple's connection to the Shinsengumi clan,
a clan active in the last decade of the Edo period, is well-known.
Soldiers of the Shinsengumi are said to have received spiritual training
at Mibu-dera and practiced swordsmanship at the headquarters of the group in Mibu.
You may get a close-up look at Kyoto's past on the temple grounds,
such as Shinsengumi soldiers' tombs and other historical locations.
It's a great spot for an evening stroll because accommodation
in the Gojo area is only a 15-minute walk away.

On New Year's Eve, hear the 【New Year's Eve Bell】
On the evening of December 31st, you can ring the bell at Mibu Temple.
As you hear the bells ring at the end of the year, you can quietly reflect
on the year at this open-door event that is special to Kyoto.

The sound of the bells ringing in the cold winter air can help you relax and forget your routine.
Being close to the hotel, letting you leave safely even late at night, is another charming part.

Yabu Soba: Recommended for Toshikoshi Soba
Eating toshikoshi soba at the end of the year is one of the best parts.
Yabu Soba, a soba restaurant that has long been a local favorite,
is about ten minutes' walk from our accommodations in the Gojo area.

Yabu Soba, a soba restaurant that has long been a local favorite,
is about ten minutes' walk from our accommodations in the Gojo area.
This meal is a perfect way to end off the year because of the carefully made soba noodles and tastefully flavored broth.
You will feel at ease and ready to greet the new year as the warm soba noodles slowly get into your chilly body.
Enjoying toshikoshi soba in an ambiance that is closer to regular Kyoto living
than the glam of a tourist attraction is one of the restaurant's unique characteristics.
Yabusoba and Mibu-dera Temple
You can have an enjoyable New Year's holiday without the hassle
of traveling because both are close to the Gojo area on foot.
This calm New Year's Eve atmosphere is unique to Kyoto
and a bit different from the busy tourist areas.
Why not give it a visit to create an unforgettable experience?
I'll see you later.
