This myth is related to the pure spirits that famous all around Japan. 

Have you been heard the AMAEBI??

AMAEBI is a half-human, half-fish pure spirit.
Appearing from the sea in a shining appearance.
Japanese believed that AMAEBI can make prediction about harvest and plague.

When AMAEBI appeared, it was a good harvest for 6 years,
and the same time it seems was illnes.

In the sea of Higo no Kuni (Kumamato prefecture now),at that time The night glowing AMAEBI appared 
"If you take my picture and show it to others, you will be far from illnes"


 

We put the AMAEBI both at Gojo and Shichijo front.
